Community Life Program

The Community Life Program is for adults who live with a developmental disability who are 19 to 55 years of age. The program operates from Community Living Place located at 6831 Artaban St. and is funded primarily by Community Living BC (CLBC).  Eligibility to the program is determined by criteria established by CLBC and referrals are made to the program by CLBC.  For more information on eligibility go to http://www.communitylivingbc.ca/.  If the program is full, then you will be put on a waitlist for service by both CLBC and PRACL.  If CLBC can fund the new service, then PRACL can usually provide the service immediately.

The program participants enjoy a variety of recreation and learning opportunities and make social connections and friendship both at the day program site and out in the community.  Our program strives to be responsive to the goals of each individual involved, while offering daily group activities that people can choose to be involved in such as skills for employment, community awareness, music, alternate communications, nutrition and social skills.  Trained, professional employees offer support as needed, with experiences that promote personal development and skill building. It is a place where participants can feel they belong, and be themselves.

Free Spirit

Free Spirit is a day program for seniors with developmental disabilities who are over 55 years of age.

Program activities include educational, recreational, social and community activities with an emphasis on health and well-being. Our program honours where seniors are in their lives and we change with the ebb and flow of their health and abilities. Some days it is enough to just be there with friends and supportive staff celebrating special occasions, singing, dancing and eating together.  We welcome visitors and family any time. Creative activities are always on the go, everything from quilting to painting. Volunteers help enhance the program.
