Home Sharing

Community members may choose to open their homes to individuals in a variety of ways.  Individuals can live with them as members of their family or separately in their own suite with a range of supports depending on their needs.  There can be additional staff supports for individuals with high needs.  Community members that choose to have someone live with them will be paid a fee that matches the care needs of the individual.  This care level will be determined by the Homesharing Coordinator through the use of an assessment tool.

PRACL provides residential supports in community neighbourhoods to adults with developmental disabilities that are funded primarily by Community Living BC (CLBC).  Eligibility to the program is determined by criteria established by CLBC and referrals are made to the program by CLBC. For more information on eligibility go to http://www.communitylivingbc.ca.    If the program is full, then you will be put on a waitlist for service by both CLBC and PRACL.  If CLBC can fund the new service, then PRACL can usually provide the service immediately.  Occasionally, residential supports are needed for young adults.  PRACL will make every effort to provide the supports needed.

In all residential services PRACL employees work towards ensuring that every individual has a personal network and friends, participating in community, and increasing or maintaining as much autonomy and independence as each person is capable of.  The safety and security of individuals is of utmost importance.
