“I love working at PRACL because of the people we serve. They continue to amaze and humble me. Everyone is accepted. I am thankful for the opportunity to actually see beyond the physical. My world has changed because of the people we serve.”

A School and Community Service Worker (SCSW) Certificate is a requirement for a most adult services positions. The SCSW gives participants the knowledge and abilities around the intricacies of working with people with developmental disabilities. Within Powell River, Vancouver Island University is the only educational institution that delivers this program but there are a number of other institutions throughout the province that run equivalent programs.
For more information about the SCSW program, visit Vancouver Island University's Human Services website.
Our Health focused residences accept the Resident Care Aide certificate as equivalent to SCSW. For more information about this program visit Vancouver Island University’s HS/RCA website.
Our children’s services seek applicants with an Early Childhood Educators’ license as well as experience supporting children with special needs.

“Being a casual employee at PRACL suits my lifestyle. I am learning about basic health care and want to use PRACL as a stepping stone onto more work in the healthcare field.”
