Advocacy - Supporting Individuals and Families to Have a Voice and a Choice
PRACL recognizes that our mission to foster a safe, inclusive community where everyone belongs and lives a good life starts within our community as an agency serving individuals and families.

Some of the many ways that PRACL supports individuals and their families to advocate for the things that matter to them include:
  • We have seats on the PRACL Board of Directors that are only for self advocates
  • We encourage and consistently have a strong family presence on the PRACL Board of Directors
  • We support a local self advocates group - find out more by clicking here
  • We try to stay up to date with advocacy initiatives throughout BC and Canada and maintain a resource links library - Find out more by clicking here
  • We offer opportunities for families and self advocates to participate in training and networking events such as the BCACL conference, Family Focus Conferences etc
  • We bring speakers, movies and workshops to Powell River as resources to the people we serve and to increase community awareness ie Daivid Pitonyak, David Hingsberger etc See our What's New and Interesting Notice Board to find out more
  • We are proud to be a member of the BC Association for Community Living (BCACL)since 1955. Click here to learn more about how you can be involved in their advocacy efforts.
